Hmmm, yeah....guilty. The evening sweet tooth craving for visited me again tonight...It is the second time this week, so it is trying to tell me something. I have learned to listen to these signs and dig deeper to find the real reason why I have a craving for sweets at night.
I call it conscious nutrition (OK, I just came up with this, but it sound kind of correct to describe what I mean). Learning to understand the signals out body gives us instead of just making it QUIET by immediately giving it what it is asking for.
One of the reasons for me this week has been lack of enough quality sleep. I have created a busy work week for myself and one of my kids became sick, so Mommy-duty became more important than work, which meant work piling up for late nights to complete.
Lack of exercise - or rather not sticking to and honoring my commitment to my exercise routine, putting it last on the list of priorities and then trying to make up for it by double exercising later....not a good idea for me.
Failure to plan my week's meals properly, causing me to run out of certain foods, having to go to the store to get them, for which I didn't have time due to all the other things happening - just like a domino effect...
And more, but that isn't the point. The point is to pause and reflect when the craving hits. Why am I craving? What am I craving? When? What has changed in my routine?
If we find answers to these questions, it becomes easier to truly satisfy that craving and not just fuel it further by throwing something at it just to make it "QUIET DOWN" (aka, grabbing the chips or chocolate and stuffing ourselves).
So being late evening and having run out of my healthy dark chocolate stash reserved for times like this, I had to improvise. And I had to do it quickly and with minimum effort.
So I grabbed a few items from the fridge and freezer and in 2 minutes threw together this
Strawberry-Pear fake crumb that went into the over for about 15 minutes. WOW! The result was just what I needed. And, it gave me time to drink a large glass of water and put a drop of Slim and Sassy essential oil under my tongue to curb the craving.
